Dixie State University will host two emergency preparedness events to help equip the Trailblazer community for unexpected crises.
Those involved in a crisis typically only have seconds to respond. DSU is hosting these essential events so those on campus and in the community can protect themselves and others before disaster strikes.
First, the DSU community will join millions of people around the world as they “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” during the Great ShakeOut, the world’s largest earthquake drill. This drill helps residents be prepared to survive and recover quickly from earthquakes no matter where they are. The drill will be held at 10:18 a.m. on April 18. Everyone is welcome to participate.
To download recordings with instructions and earthquake sound effects to play during your own Drop, Cover, Hold On drill, visit, ShakeOut.org/drill/broadcast.
In conjunction with the Great ShakeOut, DSU is offering a valuable Department of Homeland Security Stop The Bleed training. No matter how fast professional emergency responders arrive, bystanders will always be first on the scene. This national awareness campaign is intended to cultivate efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Stop The Bleed will be held at 2 p.m. in the Dunford Auditorum.
Training is open to the campus and community and is first come, first served.
