Executive director of HR receives regional excellence award
By Erin Hakoda
Travis Rosenberg, the executive director of human resources at DSU, has been awarded the Western Region HR Excellence award from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).
This regional award honors transformative HR work in higher education, recognizing individuals who have provided leadership resulting in significant and ongoing organizational change within their institutions.
“It’s an honor to be recognized like this,” Rosenberg said. “The other DSU HR staff members nominated me for the award without my knowledge. I only found out recently that I was nominated for, much less receiving, the award. The team kept it a secret until they found out I was receiving it, then surprised me with huge congratulations. Words can’t express how truly touched I am to receive such recognition by the CUPA-HR Western Region board and to have been nominated by the very staff I work with and support.”
Thanks to the support of its sponsor, VALIC, CUPA-HR is able to make a contribution of $1,000 to the institutional endowment or scholarship fund of the award recipient’s choice. Rosenberg has opted to divide this donation evenly between the DSU Staff Association Scholarship, which is awarded to part-time employees continuing their education, and a scholarship for the DSU Pacific Islander Student Association.
