Students in Prof. Alex Chamberlain's 3D Animation class have finished work on the University's first animated short, entitled "Roofus Makes a Mess." The short follows the misadventures of a robotic vacuum cleaner who, despite having good intentions, turns out to be ill-prepared for the realities of a messy house. Roofus attempts to clean his new home under the disdainful eyes of the old cleaning implements, who watch him jealously from the coat closet.
Students worked using a studio workflow to rapidly create assets and animated scenes or "chapters" including physics simulations, virtual lighting, and of course, facial expressions for the characters.
