DSU to host Special Olympics Utah South Area Games

The Dixie State University Department of Health & Human Performance, in conjunction with Dixie State Athletics and DSU Community and Global Engagement, is thrilled to host the track & field and swimming events for the Special Olympics Utah South Area Games.
The track & field competition will be held in the newly renovated Trailblazer Stadium while swimming will take place in the DSU Aquatic Center, located just north of the stadium. The games are free to attend and will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.
Volunteers are needed for three-hour shifts starting at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. to help these brave athletes during the event. Roles needing filled include timing the start and finish of each event, gathering athletes prior to each heat, delivering heat sheets to the awards table, and helping with award ceremony and distribute medals at the end of each heat are needed.
A volunteer informational meeting will be held at 8 a.m. on the day of the event in the Habibian Athletic Center, located just northwest of Trailblazer Stadium. Volunteers helping with the 11 a.m. shift should check in at the Habibian Athletic Center when they arrive.
