It is time to get creative with our activity and recreation. During this time of uncertainty, when many of us are cooped up in our homes and apartments, DSU Campus Recreation would like to remind you how critical it is to continue to do those things that are beneficial to your personal health and well-being. Every day, try to engage in some type of recreation or physical activity. Use the tools and resources that Campus Recreation has available for you or come up with some of your own. The important thing is to spend some time each day and be active…recreate…PLAY!
Participation in regular physical activity or exercise is critical to improve one’s health and physical capacity. Regular physical activity will also enhance your emotional state, boost academic success and cognition, enhance social health, and provide a strong sense of self-efficacy as well as produce an overall feeling of well-being.
Just follow these exercise guidelines to enjoy the many benefits of staying active:
- Frequency: 2 – 6 days per week
- Intensity: Moderate to very hard
- Type: Recreational activities, cardiovascular activities (aerobic, anaerobic), muscular strength and conditioning activities
- Time: 30 minutes to 90+ minutes per day (time can be broken up to smaller chunks throughout the day)
