Utah Tech University’s ROTC program honors the first class of commissioned officers

Utah Tech University’s ROTC program honored five cadets who will be the first class of officers commissioned out of the program. The officers who are commissioned out of the program are given the opportunity to have a head start in their future, including having a higher status when going into the United States Army.

“Being the first group of students to graduate and commission from this program can help further the program and create an environment for others to succeed.”-Katherine Glaser

UT’s ROTC program also encourages future students to join the program. With officers being commissioned out and having a head start in the Army, it allows future students to want to come and pursue their future at Utah Tech.

Utah Tech has already taken a huge step forward with the program. In the summer, the cadets will be competing for their spot against 5,000 other cadets who are in their graduating class. They will compete for their assignment and the branch they will be working in.

“Their ranking is really important because it’s put in perspective that we’re not just an army recruiting program, we are an academic leadership program." -Captain Dalan Bennett
