Several UT students built their own business from the ground up, thanks to our Sandbox program

By Mandy Farnum

Utah Tech University has four teams of students who are a part of Sandbox, and are pitching to potential investors to support their tech company startup.

The program, Sandbox, allows students with an entrepreneurial tech startup idea to dedicate one year to developing their business under the guidance of experienced mentors and industry leaders.

The four teams pitched their ideas to tech entrepreneurs on April 4 at Kiln St. George. Now the teams are preparing for another round of pitching at Sandbox Demo Day at Utah Valley University on April 23.

"You get out of Sandbox what you put in. Give it your all and you will see great results." - Walter Shewmake (LazyRep Co-creator)

UT student-owned companies include:

·      Vessium, an AI based workflow generator to help with databases

·      Furnace, an AI-powered platform that emails potential sales prospects

·      LazyRep, a door-to-door pest control sales tool to identify and knock on more doors

·      FieldReport.io, a field report automation for utility pole maintenance

“I love how Sandbox has helped simplify the creation and sales process in creating a new software business. Sandbox gives you a taste of everyone else's ideas and their own journeys, so your growth as a software business leader is multiplied in this 2-semester incubation period." - James Wilde (LazyRep Co-creator)
