Welcome Utah Tech’s 2025 Trailblazer Queen royalty!

By Mandy Farnum

Utah Tech University has awarded this year’s Trailblazer Royalty, including the Trailblazer Queen, as well as First, Second, Third and Fourth Attendant.

The Trailblazer Royalty is as follows:

  • Trailblazer Queen: Bella Estes
  • First Attendant: Kara Salmon
  • Second Attendant: Sammie Barlow
  • Third Attendant: Kennedi Drake
  • Fourth Attendant: Ashley Weber

The Trailblazer Queen pageant took place April 8 as part of the University’s D-Week events. It  consisted of four sections – opening number, talent, evening wear, and onstage question. Lastly, there was a contestant parade.

“I’m proud to be part of a tradition that celebrates spirit, academics, service, involvement and leadership. I’m grateful I got to show what it means to be a Trailblazer on campus this past year, and now I’m excited to share the Trailblazer Spirit with the community.”

Not only did the women compete for their royalty spot at the pageant, but they were also interviewed the morning of the event.  The contestants were judged based on their Service & Involvement Resumes and their essays. Their GPAs are also taken into consideration. All of these items are included with the scores that they are given during the pageant.

During preparation for Trailblazer Queen, the contestants had to work on interviewing, which goes far beyond the pageant and prepares them for any job interview they may have. Another training took place on how to answer onstage questions. This helps with how to carry yourself while quickly and efficiently getting the point across. In addition, it enhances their public speaking abilities and overall confidence.
