Many might call themselves fans of Utah Tech athletics, but none compare to superfan, Linda Johnston, and her commitment to the Utah Tech football program.

“I love to be out there supporting the boys, and to be a part of the community,” Linda said. “I really enjoy the atmosphere.”

Linda has attended every home football game for many years, proudly expressing her love for the sport and the players. Win or lose, you can always find Linda in her chair cheering on our Trailblazers.

Linda’s passion for the team, and occasional attempts at coaching the boys, has earned her the nickname, “Coach Mama Linda.”

“I tell ‘em to get out there and focus, get yourself going, and score 21 points in the first half,” Linda said.

Coach Mama Linda shared how she likes to be a mother’s voice to the team, as some of their families can’t make it out for each game. She embraces that motherly role, offering tough love, motivation, and encouragement.

An All-Around Super Fan

Her Utah Tech pride doesn’t stop at football, Linda supports the cheer team and basketball teams by attending as many games as she can, all while showing her Trailblazer pride.

“I have a shirt with all the names of the football players,” Linda said. “Next I need to get a shirt with all the basketball players.”

Regardless of personnel, player, and name changes, Linda Johnston bleeds rock red and Brooks blue, and forever remains loyal to her Utah Tech Trailblazers.
