DSU SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK

The DSU Health & Counseling Center is pleased to announce our first DSU Suicide Prevention Week September 9-13 for students, faculty and staff. We hope you will join us for our daily activities hosted to create greater hope, mental health and suicide awareness.

Monday

Monday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center Plaza come receive a henna semi-colon tattoo on your wrist to support 'pausing' in life during challenges, sponsored by A Little Henna.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center Plaza get artistic with sidewalk chalk by sharing a message of hope in words or images.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center Plaza help us spread messages of hope on our HOPE Wall, sponsored by Red Cliffs Mall and #SeeYourStrength.

Also on Wednesday, from 12-1 p.m. in the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center Living Room attend a Firearm Safety Panel presented by Rowdy Reeves, Chief Barfuss, Steve Roberts, and Dylan Matsumori. Light refreshments will be served.

Thursday

On Thursday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at The Diagonal between the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center and the Wellington & Margaret McDonald Center for Humanities & Social Sciences "Unpack the Silence" in support of talking about mental health and suicide to reduce the stigma. Raging Red will also perform.

Friday

Lastly, on Friday, Sept. 13, participate in a QPR Suicide Prevention Training to receive a 3-year certification to help you recognize the signs and symptoms of suicide and know how to respond with hope.

Student training will be held from 9-11 a.m. in room 470 of the Human Performance Center.

Faculty and staff training will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in room 550 of the Human Performance Center.
