We, at the Booth Wellness Center, know that life can be busy and (at times) stressful. We also know there are a lot of uncertainties in the world right now. Adjusting to living during COVID-19, and all the expectations to ensure safety practices are followed, can be stressful. We want to remind you that taking time for your self-care, and managing stress is a way for you to maintain productivity, as well as good mental health. Now that you have hopefully settled in for the semester, we want you to take a moment to unwind, breathe deep, and decompress and stress less.
Join us for our annual Decompress & Stress Less event Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at the Holland Plaza from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Enjoy FREE Crumbl sugar cookies and lemonade, DIY succulent pots, grab a “Stress Reduction” grab bag, get creative with a mural coloring page, and play interactive games hosted by our very own Campus Rec!
Another great way to decompress and stress less is to get outside!
“Being in nature can boost your mood and improve mental health. Spending quality time in the great outdoors reduces stress, calms anxiety, and can lead to a lower risk of depression, according to a study done by researchers at Stanford University. In addition to having mental health benefits, being outdoors opens up your senses to your surroundings and improves your sensory perception. Taking in the sights, smells, and feelings of nature has so many health benefits it can even be prescribed by a doctor.” – National Park Service
In addition to Decompress & Stress Less day, hike along with the DSU Hiking Club on a BWC sponsored hike in Snow Canyon State Park Saturday, October 10. Meet at 9 a.m. in the Holland Plaza to carpool to the Snow Canyon Overlook Trail.
*Remember to practice good hand hygiene, wear a mask, and practice safe 6 ft social distancing.
