DSU Booth Wellness Center will be hosting its bi-annual Decompress & Stress Less Event on November 17th, 2021 @ 10-2pm on the Holland Plaza, and Holland Lobby (2nd Floor). We will provide an atmosphere to support DSU students as the semester nears its end as we know this can be an incredibly stressful and busy time. The pressure to do well may cause students to neglect their well-being during this time – the Booth Wellness Center hopes to create a reminder for students, that self-care is especially critical during this time.
Decompress & Stress Less Event

We hope to see the DSU community stop in for some much-needed stress reduction and rejuvenation.
Unfortunately, suicide is now the 2nd leading cause of death among adolescents and young adults (ages 15-24) in the United States and has risen significantly the past 15 years (Centers for Disease Control). Utah ranks 6th in the nation for suicide rate of 21.2 per 100K (National avg. 16.4/100K) and mental illness is leading cause of disability in the world (CDC). Additionally, 75% of major mental health disorders manifest between the ages of 15-24. Mental health disorders are also one of leading causes for drop out and attrition among college age adults.
The Booth Wellness Center wants to provide a space to help students recognize the importance of tending to their mental health, even during busy and stressful times. We will be providing free hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts on the Plaza. Inside the Library there will be dogs to snuggle hosted by Intermountain Therapy Dogs and DSU Library. Zion Massage will be onsite offering free massages.
There will be a lot of stress reduction activities available, including bookmark making, coloring pages, puzzles, table games, and Lego building. Students will have an opportunity to provide service by tying fleece blankets which will be donated to the Children’s Justice Center.
Finally, but not lastly, Stacks will be offering a fantastic lunch special, a yummy grilled cheese sandwich and soup for only $6.50.
Hope to see you there, Trailblazers!!
