“Utah Tech provided me with the skills I needed to quickly implement the software development of PinDasher.”

Taft Thompson graduated from Utah Tech in May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in computer information technology with an emphasis in software development. During his time at UT, Thompson created an app, PinDasher, with the help of his spouse and professor.

Thompson’s business, Top Edge Dev, which specializes in web development and data services, was a huge reason PinDasher was created.

PinDasher strives to create a community full of fun activities and local businesses for people to enjoy. It encourages users to explore these locations by awarding points that can be redeemed for exciting prizes like gift cards and event tickets. PinDasher is perfect for cities, schools, businesses, and anyone else who wants to increase foot traffic to a specific location. The goal of PinDasher is to convert web traffic to foot traffic.

On the user’s end, PinDasher allows community members to find local spots around town to visit and earn points for every check-in at sponsored locations. These points can then be used to enter exciting raffles. These raffles are managed by PinDasher and allow local businesses to have access to prizes that are typically not provided by the business.

Taft’s idea was successful thanks to Dean Pederson’s tech entrepreneurship class at Utah Tech. The idea for PinDasher was already created, however, he was able to learn how to be an entrepreneur with the help of Pederson.

“The course provided crucial business insights that transformed my idea into a viable business venture. Such courses are essential across various disciplines to empower students to create innovative products and launch successful ventures.”

PinDasher is actively seeking users and sponsors for the app. Their goal is to create a vibrant social media community and for everyone to enjoy the pleasures of local businesses. To learn more, visit https://pindasher.com/home.
