By Nancy Allred and Jake Harber

Utah Tech University and Southern Utah University are excited to co-sponsor the Southern Utah Piano Pedagogy Conference on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All classes will be held in the Eccles Fine Arts Center at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah.

The Southern Utah Piano Pedagogy Conference is an annual conference that offers presentations, lectures, and master classes on various topics of piano teaching. This year’s conference will include presentations on teaching music theory and improvisation, as well as choosing piano repertoire and exploring careers in music. There will also be a Q&A session, where teachers can ask questions from a panel of experts.

“We are thrilled to team up with SUU to offer this wonderful piano pedagogy conference,” Dr. Nancy Allred, Utah Tech Professor of Music and Assistant Dean for the College of Arts and presenter at the conference, said.

This year’s guest presenter, Dr. Carmen Hall, is a music faculty member at Utah Valley University. Other presenters for the conference include Jerald Simon, Christian Bohnenstengel, and Allred.
