Bring on a Summer of Fun: Utah Tech Offers Summer Camps for Kids and Teens Alike

By d00487607

Summer is almost here and Utah Tech is gearing up to host a variety of summer camps! Our commitment to active learning and living an active life extends past the traditional school semester. With a lineup of hands-on camps and creative workshops, there’s no shortage of ways for kids and teens in St. George to stay curious, get creative, and try something new.

Camps for Everyone

Whether your kid is a future performer, engineer, or (yes) mermaid, there’s something here for them:

Teen Technical Theatre Camp: June 15–26, 2026

From lighting and sound to costumes and set design, this camp pulls back the curtain on what it really takes to bring a production to life. Participants will build hands-on skills and develop portfolio pieces, perfect for anyone ready to work behind the scenes (or discover they love it).

Youth Immersive Acting Camp: July 6–17, 2026

During this camp, young performers explore acting, movement, improv, and creative writing. Participants will learn the basics of acting, performance, improv, and creative storytelling through hands-on activities and ensemble work. There will even be a performance put on by these stellar kiddos in the Eccles Blackbox Theatre!

Youth Mermaid Camp: June 8-11, 2026

Yes, really…a mermaid camp! Hosted in Utah Tech’s Olympic-sized pool, this experience blends water safety, swimming skills, and a little bit of magic for kids ages 8-12. It’s as fun as it sounds.

Youth LEGO Robotics: Fridays, Beginning June 5th

Who doesn’t love LEGO? Team Prep & Play is a Friday camp designed to prepare students for the excitement of LEGO Robotics! Participants will dive into hands-on engineering, computer science, and strategic problem-solving as they design, build, and program LEGO robots to complete mission-based challenges.

Teen Arcade Game Makers Camp: Pinball Machine: July 14-16

Remember the classic pinball machines? Well in this summer camp, participants will have the opportunity to make their own pinball machine out of cardboard!

Unique Swim Camp: First session starts June 16

Designed for youth with mild to moderate physical or cognitive disabilities and/or autism, this camp ensures every child has access to a safe, supportive, and fun summer experience in the water.

For the “Big Kids”

We know that learning doesn’t stop being fun once you grow up. Cue, the Makerspace! The Makerspace at Atwood Innovation Plaza is the largest ‘makerspace’ in Southern Utah featuring prototyping and manufacturing equipment open to the public. Not only that, but the Makerspace will be hosting workshops this summer to foster your creative ideas:

  • Make It, Wear It: T-shirt Workshop — June 9
  • Peel and Stick: Custom Sticker Design & Print Workshop — June 10
  • Make Your Mark: Water Bottle Engraving Workshop — June 17
  • Top It Off: Custom Hat Workshop — July 7
  • Charm and Chain: Custom Keychain Workshop — July 14

Not to oversell it, but these are the kinds of workshops you leave thinking, “Okay… that was actually really cool.” If you can’t make it (no pun intended) to the Makerspace workshops this summer, they’re offered all year round!

Here’s to a Summer of Learning

Summer isn’t just about filling time, it’s about creating memories. It’s a perfect time to discover your passions, enhance skills, and create friendships that last far beyond the summer season. Whether your child is stepping onto the stage, diving into robotics, or even channeling their inner mermaid, these camps offer something for every kid. And for those of us who are a little older, the Makerspace proves that creativity and hands-on learning aren’t something you age out of.

The days are getting longer and possibilities are brewing. This summer don’t sit idly, make it meaningful. Join us and discover how learning, creativity, and play can come together for an unforgettable summer of learning.
